I’ve been experimenting with overclocking my machine. Back then, it had the stock 6100 and a GTX 550. That setup worked well. WoW ran smoothly on ultra, everything was fine. Three years later, performance is slowing down. I recently upgraded the GPU a few months ago and am now trying to boost my CPU for better speed. It seems both changes might be affecting game performance—after roughly one minute of play, games freeze. I lowered the CPU from 4.1 GHz to 3.9 GHz and reduced the GPU clock on my R7 370 from 1150 to 1100 MHz. That should have resolved the issue. The question remains: what could be causing the freezes despite normal temperatures? My R7 370 reaches around 65°C under load, while my CPU stays at a high 95°C. Could the GPU’s intense power draw during stress be the culprit? I can test other settings to see if the problem persists. Thanks for all the feedback.
When you increase the speed beyond the original design, the chips operate faster than intended. They may succeed sometimes, but often they struggle. Overheating isn't the sole cause of failure in overclocked components. Based on your account, it seems your GPU wasn't stable during your previous overclock attempt. If the CPU was unstable, the whole system would likely crash. You've tried your best by raising the voltage, which can push for a higher overclock but also raises power consumption and heat production.

Your psu may not be great, but I doubt it is the primary cause of your problem. It's not shutting down or overheating. As long as you don't load it, the PSU should work ok, and I don't see why your system would overload it-even with some overclocking. A better PSU could help, but there would be no guarantee. Some chips cannot overclock well.
Well, playing those games (open world, Minecraft, Space Engineers, Rust, GTA, etc.) really puts a strain on my CPU, making it the main bottleneck instead of my GPU. FX series does great with overclocking, which is what I'm most concerned about. I'll do some more testing and see how it goes. Thanks guys 😀
