Do all computer games crash when you start them up?
A new computer was bought about three months ago. It's crashing when trying to start games like Apex Legends, Fortnite, and Remnant from the Ashes on Steam. The Battle.net games seem fine, but anything I buy through Steam just stops working. A black screen appears for a few seconds and then goes away. Checking the game files, making sure it runs as an administrator, even resetting my PC all failed. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks.
Which OS are you running? Windows 10 or 11? Is this a brand new copy? Do you have all the stuff installed, like VC++, DirectX, .NET, and even an updated BIOS? Your post is missing too much info to help. You need to give more details. What exact GPU brand and model do you have? Also tell me your current power supply (PSU) make, model, and age. At what resolution are you playing games? What CPU brand and model do you use? Please share the CPU and GPU temperatures when the PC is under full load and in normal desktop mode. Are there any signs of overheating? Anyway, just give me your whole PC specs here: -1. "Complete" system specs should always come with driver, hardware, or performance questions. Don't send DXDiag reports because they have way too much useless data. Sending a DxDiag instead of System Specs often stops people from helping you. Please supply these details/information as best as possible. No need to list every single detail though; this is just for reference. (Complete System Specs) -CPU make and model# (clock speed, voltage, type of cooler, "Core" temperature at idle and under load) -Motherboard make & model# (include BIOS version if your graphics card isn't recognized or you have stability problems) -RAM (amount, clock speed, kit name/model#, configuration) -Graphics card(s) make, model# (clock speed, voltage if modified, Driver version, and GPU temp at idle and under load) -Power supply make, model#, "AND" age (note if your power gets electricity from 110V or 220V A/C input) -HDD/SSD configuration (like RAID setup, backup drive, OS location, etc...) -Case/Chasis make, model# (fan model, model#, and config if you have thermal issues) -Operating System (If using Windows note Framework and service pack version) -Monitor make, model#, and resolution (If the model number is unknown list just the resolution and refresh rate) *If this PC is a "laptop" or an "All-in-one", tell me the make and model# of that unit. Always use the manufacturer's official Driver updates for your unit. *If you are getting problems: -Note down the exact nature of the "crash," because there are several meanings for that word. *If it's a performance issue: -Tell me the "exact" moment when the speed got worse (like after Windows update, after BIOS update, after Driver update, after thermal shutdown, or after hardware change/upgrade etc...) *For checking things out please turn off these things: -Any/all Antivirus/Anti-malware software -Any/all OSD monitoring software -ALL overclocks that are not from the factory.
