Do additional heatpipes necessarily improve performance?
Do additional heatpipes necessarily improve performance?
Hi, guys! I have a Q9650 on an Asus p5q-e motherboard and I'm trying to boost it to 4.0~4.5GHz. For cooling the CPU, I have two choices: cryogen H5 or Hyper 612 v2. I've read many discussions saying H5 is better than 612! Is that really true? Since 612 has 6 heatpipes compared to 4 for H5 and it has a direct touch base, what could make H5 superior? Thanks for your help!
Having more heatpipes increases possibilities, but how that potential is applied differs. In my opinion, the Cryorig cooler would be a better choice since it employs modern technology to utilize its full capacity, whereas the CM 612 offers only a slight improvement over 212 with steroids.
