This game is widely known, but there are still many who haven’t tried it. If you love RPGs, you’re missing out if you haven’t played it or won’t. It’s the best RPG I’ve ever played in ten years, and honestly, that’s my opinion. Share this with everyone—support Larian Studios! They remain independent and haven’t been taken over by large corporations.
Yeah np. It's 45 brand new, and their last game, they didn't add any actual dlc. What you got, was what you got. Assuming they'll do the same with this one and I'm glad of that. Brings me back to the good old days when we paid for a full game instead of extra "DLC" coming out for it right when the game launches anyways lol.
truly amazing game indeed, I just got to the second area today, and damn its big. And when I was starting to think combat was getting easy, here I am getting rekt. Im planning on playing the first original sin too
A Skyrim-style adventure, not an RPG. Generally a disappointing experience: visually appealing environment, yet weak storytelling, poor quest structure, clunky combat, and confusing item handling.
Skyrim doesn't feature a traditional "role" system like an RPG does. It relies on quest prompts and markers instead. Bethesda markets it as an RPG primarily for promotional reasons, giving the impression of a more advanced and refined game than it truly is. The term "RPG" has been widely misused since the Xbox 360 era, possibly even earlier.
Well, it varies. I partially agree with you—RPG is being applied everywhere, even Dark Souls gets labeled as an RPG (though that’s not entirely accurate). In Skyrim, I feel like I’m taking on a character and making choices, so it fits the RPG mold. Skrym’s tough side has its issues, but overall it’s a great game, especially when it first came out. Looking back at Divinity, that’s what I mean by classic RPG: you can tackle everything in many ways, and the design was built to support that. The developers were definitely surprised by all the player creativity.
He makes a valid observation. Even action-packed titles like Borderlands and Sunset Overdrive fall under the hybrid RPG category. The gaming landscape has become so varied that it's challenging to pin them down neatly. For me, an RPG essentially revolves around story-driven missions, collecting items, and evolving a character. Those are the core elements, though.
