I was ready to go all-in on you, but I checked the subject line first. My server’s in rough shape—hardware issues, a card failure, and only a few usable files left.

Optimal setup involves placing UPS and battery backups at the very bottom of servers wherever possible, and positioning patch panels above or below the switches. Spoiler: This ensures reliability.

I reviewed your network diagram in your signature. Do you have a post that outlines the services you provide and the RPIs you use? Additionally, could you clarify your choice of Cisco equipment? Was it based on cost, familiarity, or another factor?

I have additional servers available beyond what I've shown here, kept mostly offline for backup purposes. The QNAP serves as my primary storage unit, while the RPIs are mainly used for development and experimentation. I also run one as a local NTP server for personal use. On my Intel NUC, I have several DNS servers hosted on ESXi, supporting most of my virtual machines like Plex. For testing and validation, I acquired the equipment specifically for real-world traffic conditions.

My compact 6U unit. You'll notice I require additional room and must refresh the labels on my patch panel. Clear documentation is essential! power bar router + rack mount kit UnRaid Server Synology NAS 24-port switch 24-port patch panel

I made changes to the post and swapped in images from Imgur. They should now appear! I’m not sure why they weren’t visible before. I also uploaded them to the forum.
