Display shuts off briefly and restarts.
The display suddenly turns off for a brief moment then restarts. On the upper left corner it displays "Displayport 1", "HDMI 1" or similar based on the connection being used. This occurs unpredictably, both during gameplay and while viewing the desktop. The whole system has been completely replaced; the GPU was returned to the manufacturer three times under warranty. Windows 11 has been reinstalled many times. I've repeatedly updated the graphics drivers and kept them current. The display cable has been swapped four times, each time using a fresh cable. I tested VESA certified DisplayPort 1.4 cables, tried a DisplayPort 2.0 cable to check compatibility. I've used three different monitors, switched GPU ports on the GPU, disabled G-Sync, and plugged it into both standard and high-power outlets. My PC is an Origin PC equipped with an RTX 3080, AMD Ryzen 9 5950x, ASUS B550 UNIFY motherboard, and 32 GB RAM. This issue also appeared on another machine completely unrelated to me. I've faced this problem for a year and am feeling overwhelmed. It's created significant stress and anxiety, pushing me to the brink. I'm sharing this out of sheer desperation.
It seems the screen display is likely the issue, especially with that specific HDMI port. My Sceptre U55 began this behavior on HDMI3 after a ScreenCast device overheated and stopped working. HDMI1 and HDMI 2 are functioning properly. I’d test another input to see if the problem persists; it could be the port or its electronics needing attention.
This occurred across three monitors using various ports. Each monitor supported both displayport and HDMI.
You mean replacing the whole setup or installing a different system? I’m checking if unstable memory could be triggering a reset of the video mode. There was a RAM problem that led to random failures during cold starts, with modules working but failing shortly after moving to another machine. The RAM wasn’t properly seated in either device after the failure. Using RAM from each board’s own QVL list resolved the issues on both systems. This could be worth exploring further.
Both systems seem to have the same issue? It could be related to your power supply. Are you using a UPS?
