Hi all, I have a Intel 7800X CPU (x299 tomahawk MSI motherboard) with a MSI 1080TI GPU. At random times my screens will go off and my GPU fans will ramp up to 100%. I have no idea what to do anymore. I've formatted my PC and updated drivers and still this happens. It mainly happens when I play games. The GPU gets up to 85 - 95°C. I don't think this is concerning but yeah. I have an AOC 27" 165hz screen and an LG 24" 144hz screen both connected via display port. I connected the LG screen via an HDMI cable and it seemed to fix the problem but didn't last. Any idea how I can troubleshoot this? Is this a CPU or GPU issue? I know the PC is old but funds are not available to upgrade.

Thanks for the input. The readings show 95°C at the hotspot and 85°C according to ICUE. I plan to run HWinfo to verify the temperatures. Since I own the GPU since 2017/2018, it’s likely time for a refresh. My CPU gets refreshed every two years. Should I consider liquid metal or just stick with thermal paste? I currently use Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut but have a tube of Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut that I’d like to test.

I usually use a cheaper Arctic MX-4 paste, but Grizzly Kryonaut also works. My GPU is an 1080Ti and it gets very hot during heavy loads because it's an older high-end model. Benchmark tests show temperatures reaching around 93°C after just three minutes of use, even though the card was only recently repasted. I own a cheaper 1080Ti with just two fans. It was hard to locate suitable thermal pads, but the company is well-regarded with positive feedback. The person seemed experienced with the 1080Ti and noted an increase in their inventory there recently.
