Interesting, when I checked the HP website for this model, I only found a support guide for the 4000 series Ryzen APUs. It doesn’t mention the 3400G you referenced. Also, it incorrectly states the motherboard uses LGA 1200, which is an Intel socket. I can’t locate any user upgrading this system with a 2700X, so I suggest going with a B450 board if your power supply matches.

I researched the system model "HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop PC TG01" found on retailers like Newegg. It offers both AMD and Intel configurations when you place an order, similar to selecting a pre-built laptop model. The case isn't compatible with regular PC boards, so you can't use a standard desktop board inside it. The best option is to replace the existing chip or go for a custom build.

You're really close, brother. The Ryzen 5 is the only option here. This is HP's simple way of telling buyers what they can get. Missing the common sense to mention support for Ryzen 7 or 9... I'd go with the 4600G instead. It should give you about a 15% performance increase, should that work.

It seems the reference to "Ryzen 5" isn't very clear on the first page. The second sheet indicates compatibility with 4300G, 4600G, and 47000G, which makes sense given their similarities. They share more traits than a 3400G and a 4600G would.
