Hello, I recently had my computer repaired because it wouldn’t start up. It turned out the RAM was faulty, so I replaced it with a working pair and ran my desktop there. The issue arises when I enter BIOS: everything is set to auto and it boots at 2133MHz, which is fine. But when I switch to the tweaker and enable DOCP, it automatically adjusts to 3600MHz—the correct speed for my RAM—and then restarts until it safely boots. After that, I have to revert it back to auto at 2133MHz. What might be causing this? Could it be because there’s only one RAM stick installed or something else is affecting the settings? The DOCP increases the voltage from the standard 1.2V to 1.35V during auto mode, and it works normally there too. Any advice would be appreciated. My system has a TridentZ Neo 3600MHz 2x16GB RAM and an ASUS X570 TUF Gaming Plus motherboard with Wi-Fi.

Which motherboard you choose matters, especially if it's older than 2666MHz. OC'ing your memory on an AM4 board can affect performance even when RAM runs at its rated speed (like 3600MHz). Raising the DRAM voltage is typical and necessary once you're above 3200MHz. It's best to disable DOCP, set your RAM clock starting at 3000MHz, adjust the DRAM voltage manually to 1.3500V, leave other settings unchanged, and verify stability beginning at 3000MHz before increasing further.

I noticed the RAM speed jumped to 3600 MHz unexpectedly. It’s possible several factors contributed—such as overheating, driver issues, or a faulty component.

No changes were made beforehand; the updates to the bios occurred after the issue arose.

It had always been a bit tricky since I reassembled it in October, often getting stuck on the DRAM section during startup. This escalated to a DRAM or CPU error during boot, then later in January after waiting a month while I was away, it displayed DRAM, CPU, and VGA issues. I returned the RAM, the motherboard, and finally the CPU. Problems continued; BIOS updates helped briefly but then it wouldn’t power on at all. Eventually, I brought it in over the weekend because I was exhausted with troubleshooting. Each component was checked, the CPU re-seated, yet a faulty RAM stick remained even after returning it. I hadn’t adjusted the BIOS settings much since starting the replacement process, so no particular steps stand out.
