Display issue with GT625 model reported.
Hi, I purchased an Acer Aspire XC-605 at a low price used. When trying to connect it to my TV via HDMI, there’s no display output, no Acer logo, and no BIOS screen when I press the DEL key. Oddly enough, it managed to boot into Windows after several restarts and moving the HDMI plug around the port. The HDMI cable and TV work fine because I can connect my laptop without issues. I also tried using a DVI to VGA adapter and then a VGA to HDMI adapter since the TV doesn’t have a VGA port. The HDMI port 1 keeps appearing and disappearing when I select it. I’ve changed ports but nothing changed. I removed the GPU and used the mobile HDMI and VGA ports, but there’s still no output. My system runs an Intel i5 4440 with integrated graphics. I’m really confused. As a student, any help would make this year great for me. Thanks very much.
Reset the BIOS using a jumper while the GPU is taken out (unplug power).
Connect the TV to the PC (TV on) and attempt to boot.
Swap the CMOS battery.
Which DVI adapter and which VGA to HDMI adapter are you attempting to use?
Try DVI to HDMI.
I received the system output without using your method. I attempted steps 1, 2 and 3 but they didn’t resolve the issue. Here’s what I did, but I’m not sure if it can be replicated.
If the video output/gpu functions and the Windows logo appears, I quickly updated the drivers and performed several updates. However, I didn’t update the DGPU drivers because I couldn’t find a package on the Nvidia website.
After installing the Intel IGPU driver, I restarted the computer and waited. There was no output, but I still waited 30-40 minutes for installation since it was running on an HDD. Eventually, I pressed the power button, but the issue persisted. I restarted multiple times without success. Then I removed the DGPU and restarted the system. The graphics worked now; I recognized the manufacturer’s logo and was able to open Windows with the full GUI from post to windows. Before updating drivers, I would encounter a blank screen when connecting via HDMI to the motherboard. The screen turned on but displayed nothing.
Now I have a GT625 GPU left.
I believe the problem stemmed from a theory I found online—whether it’s accurate isn’t clear.
Driver for IGPU and DGPU didn’t load after post but only during OS boot. Updating them might help, though I’m not entirely confident. Thanks for your assistance, mate.
