Display issue with GPU.
Display issue with GPU.
I recently acquired a used RTX 3060 TI from Amazon. After installing it, I attempted to boot my PC but noticed no display on the monitor despite fans and RGB functioning normally. When I unplugged and reconnected it, the issue persisted. I replaced the old GPU (GTX 1660 TI) and it worked perfectly. Connecting an HDMI cable still didn’t produce any output. I suspect either the GPU is non-functional or there’s insufficient power supply. I’m using a 500W PSU with the following specs: Core i7 10700F, 16GB DDR4 RAM, GTX 1660 TI (previous), RTX 3060 TI (new), 1TB HDD, 256GB SSD.
If the PSU isn't capable of supporting the GPU, problems will appear under heavy usage. Therefore, if the system fails to boot at all, the fault lies elsewhere. Ensure the PCIe power cables are securely connected on both ends, as loose connections might prevent the GPU from starting. Even after confirming proper plugging, if the GPU remains inactive, it could indicate a dead GPU or a corrupted BIOS.
GPU BIOS is present on GPUs too. Older graphics cards used for mining might need a particular mining BIOS update. If the previous owner didn’t apply the standard BIOS, this problem could occur. https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/2316...192-210309
Honestly, I've never had to do this before, so I'm not sure how it works. There are lots of guides available, and you should be okay. Still, I’d suggest talking to the seller first and returning the GPU if needed—after all, it turned out that way. Why go through all this effort unless there was a really good or low price? Otherwise, I’d just return and buy something else.
