Hello everyone, I’m trying to figure out what’s going on. Yesterday my monitor went black while the GPU fans sped up but I could still hear the game. This also happened during a FurMark stress test and when I checked the BIOS. Besides that, today my PC shut down completely during FurMark. Everything else was off except the PSU fan, which kept running. From what I’ve noticed, this seems to point toward a PSU issue, since my GPU has never had any problems before. I haven’t changed settings or overclocked. I removed Ryzen Master because it would switch back to Precision Boost Overdrive and reset the CMOS. In the past few days I’ve also dual-bootd Linux and set my fans to PWM mode in BIOS, but I’m not sure these changes are related.
My system specs: R7 2700X B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC EVGA SC Ultra RTX 2060 2x8gb RipJaws V 3200mhz Corsair CX750M 2015. PSU: 1x 250gb 970 EVO, 1x 256gb 850 Pro, 1x 1tb MX500, 1x 1tb Samsung 7200RPM HDD.
My latest assembly has been matching the same problem pattern—seems tied to a motherboard fault—and has already been sent for replacement under warranty. I've replaced RAM, GPU, and all cables for roughly three months, but it still failed to boot with video until finally an amber DRAM indicator appeared. If the board started up, the diagnostic lights behaved like a malfunctioning traffic signal before any start-up. I tested each DIMM separately and got success. I changed DIMMs from a known working machine, but nothing improved. The GPU swap also had no effect. I contacted ASUS support, who confirmed it was likely a board issue and initiated the RMA process. They even asked me to pay for a shipping label for a four-month-old unit and instructed me to send it with the factory CPU socket cover installed—but not in the original box. What’s with those plastic covers? The factory box provides significantly better protection than the cheap plastic ones most people use. Additionally, when I handed over the package today, a clerk was so rude that he knocked over the previous customer's box from about four to five feet high. I warned him about shipping valuable components and warranty concerns. He replied, “Was it packed okay?” I insisted, “No, there’s no bubble wrap strong enough to safeguard a motherboard from a five-foot drop. You need better care.” That gave me a serious concern. I genuinely worry this board will arrive damaged and blame me for the trouble. Updated July 25, 2022 by An0maly_76 Added more details
