Hello, I recently upgraded the CPUs and performed a full reset to refresh everything. Now I’m facing problems that are really puzzling me. When using the PC (mainly for gaming), the display signal disappears while the fans keep running as if nothing happened. The only solution seems to be turning off and on the PC. Before the CPU upgrade, my system was running perfectly without any issues, but now it feels completely off, especially with the loss of the display.

My original specs were: AMD 9800X3D (Noctua NH-D15) – Asus Crosshair 870e Hero Corasair 64GB 6000MHz – MSI 4090 Liquid Suprim – Corsair RM1000W – Crucial 705 Gen5 1TB – Crucial 705 Gen5 4TB – WB Gen4 8TB – Toshiba 22TB.

The new spec is: AMD 9950X3D (delidded with TG Liquid Metal, TG Heatspreader, Artic Freezer III 240mm) – Asus Crosshair 870e Hero Corasair 64GB 6000MHz – MSI 4090 Liquid Suprim – Corsair RM1000W – Crucial 705 Gen5 1TB – Crucial 705 Gen5 4TB – WB Gen4 8TB – Toshiba 22TB.

When I refreshed the 4090, I first used liquid metal. I applied two coats of TG Shield around the board to prevent short circuits. After reassembly, my first boot failed because the GPU wasn’t detected and the fans weren’t spinning. I reattached the GPU and cables, this time the fans turned on but the display stayed off. I tried connecting via the motherboard display and booted into Windows using Cinabench. I rebooted, reinserted the GPU, and still got no display. Then I reset the CMOS and restarted again. This time the first logo appeared, then the display vanished until I powered off and on the PC. It happened with both the GPU and the mainboard display.

I performed a BIOS flashback and managed to boot into Windows through the motherboard display. Concerned about my GPU, I disassembled it, cleaned all liquid metal residues, and applied standard thermal paste. After that, the PC booted normally via the GPU. Now I’m trying to figure out why the display keeps going missing randomly.

I’ve updated the BIOS, all motherboard drivers, and NVIDIA drivers. I’m considering removing the NVIDIA driver completely and installing an older version, but I’m worried it might damage the GPU. I’m hopeful there’s another cause for this issue. Please help me.

Removed concerns about the PSU that might be fading away. Rechecked the GPU and finished the repair. Unfortunately, I still lose a single occasionally.
