This problem has persisted across several drivers and window setups. For clarity, I ran another DDU and applied a black screen after roughly 90 minutes in-game while using the lobby view.

This situation is becoming quite intriguing, and I'm really curious about finding the answer. Unless it's related to drivers or the game itself, most people would likely raise concerns. It might be either Windows or hardware issues, though hardware seems less probable given the GPU performance in other games. Windows appears more likely because you've managed to get through several updates without problems. When you tried the 1080 resolution, did you check the drivers and install the NVIDIA versions? It would be unusual if this was a hardware problem, especially since the 1080 works well already.

I switched the drivers to safe mode and updated the latest Nvidia ones. The main problem was missing the "-dx12" line in the Steam client while fixing my 6900XT. After fixing that, everything worked perfectly. I reinstalled the AMD drivers and experienced crashes around 90 minutes into a game, sometimes even before the main menu appeared. Right now I’m using the 1080 to finish tasks quickly. Back when I played Palworld, I’d boost virtual memory on the drive with my games, which seemed to prevent crashes. But none of my tests point to RAM as the issue.

does your 6900xt work without the "-dx12"? do you have an extra hard drive available? you might attempt to set up linux inside it, run steam, check the lutris github "drivers" page, install everything for AMD graphics cards, try a game there and see if the system crashes after about 90 minutes. since driver issues usually affect performance more than stability, if it's driver-related you won't have much chance on windows, but linux offers mesa drivers which are open source yet not supported on windows (at least currently). this seems likely the final step to figure out whether the problem is driver-based or hardware-based.

We can try using a spare disk. Which operating system would you prefer?

don't worry about anything, just start Ubuntu's latest release that isn't LTS. After installing, follow these steps: first, visit the provided GitHub link for drivers, then read the installation guide on the Gloriouseggroll website. Once done, open a terminal and either run "snap install steam" or use "sudo snap install steam" if needed.
