DISM and SFC are unable to repair damaged files?
Hello, the issue began when I replaced my old RAM, after which my computer became very slow and audio issues appeared. I ran SFC but it reported corrupt files that couldn't be fixed. Then I tried DISM, which is now the current situation.
The command executed was:
c:\>DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:WIM:c:\install.wim:1 /LimitAccess
Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
Version: 10.0.22621.1
Image Version: 10.0.22621.1702
[===========================53.3% ]
Error: 3
The system couldn't locate the specified path.
The DISM log is available at C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log
I attempted again but this time only used restorehealth.
c:\>DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
Version: 10.0.22621.1
Image Version: 10.0.22621.1702
[===========================53.3% ]
Error: 3
The system still couldn't find the path.
I'm really confused, I need help fixing this without having to completely reset my PC again, especially since reinstalling games is such a hassle. Please assist.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
It's quite a hassle reinstalling all my games.
If you're using Steam, you might assign a drive as your game library. After an OS reinstall, you can check the launcher to see which drive was used.
The problem began when I replaced my old RAM.
It would be clear if your RAM is the cause. Consider reverting to the previous RAM model.
Make sure your BIOS is updated and that you've cleared the CMOS after confirming your BIOS is current.
I ran a memory scan on the old drives and found a hardware problem, but the new ones looked fine. I tried switching back, but the issue stayed, so I went with the new RAM. I cleared my CMOS each time and kept the BIOS updated. Regarding Steam, my other drive is an HDD and it takes a long time to transfer all the files in and out.
The error might be due to spacing issues. DISM requires attention to detail. Did you install the ISO? Your command line appears incomplete. The DISM command needs a proper path. If your system had faulty RAM, it could have caused file corruption, leading to this issue. For Windows 11, the latest version is available, but the current one is 23H2 instead of 22H2, so I can't provide that. Timing was unfortunate.
I installed the ISO initially, but the virtual disk boot feature vanishes each time I restart the system. Will the repair affect any files? If yes, I need to explore all my options before proceeding further. I've already tried that, but it didn't work on both the full path and just the restorehealth.
the log indicates this error - 0x80070003. have you attempted using the windows update troubleshooter? it seems like a possible solution. these steps might assist:
https://www.tenforums.com/windows-u...00...t-fix.html
the suggested actions include performing a repair install. even though the second link lists 23H2, Iâve been advised that 22H2 is still available.
https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows11
download media creation tool
create a USB using it
follow these steps:
https://www.elevenforum.com/t/repair-ins...grade.418/
if the iso you received was 23H2 (as expected), you could use the USB to upgrade to 23H2, which would replace the windows version and potentially resolve the issue.
Yeah, I've ran the troubleshooter a few times now and it rejects the update every time. I'll try out the 23H2, will post after it's done
Consider setting up a USB drive on a PC that doesnât have issues
You could try running this on a USB device and check the version it generates
If the header matches, it should display 23H2
If it shows 22H2, proceed with a repair install
When it appears as 23H2, attempt an upgrade
After creation, insert the drive into the problematic PC
Use File Explorer to navigate to USB and launch setup
Follow the instructionsâit should prompt for an update of the current system.
