Discussion on microtransactions in high-end AAA games priced at $60 USD
You notice Jim Sterling's content but wonder why cosmetic features aren't freely available in the game. You mention paying for the Tomb Raider 2013 DLC, which is separate from the main game.
Jim approves but emphasizes inclusivity for all players. If they wish to earn extra, selling items like figures, hoodies, or merchandise is fine. However, for exclusive downloads, skins, and cosmetics, I set my boundary.
I believe microtransactions exist because players desire a full experience and are willing to pay for it. Another example is Payday 2, which introduced such features and faced strong criticism. Despite the backlash, they haven’t changed their approach. Wouldn’t it be better if games were free to play?
