Discussion on dual bios topic Question about the subject
I possess a Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master motherboard, functioning as a dual BIOS unit. During the recent Windows reinstallation, I suspect the second BIOS switch was activated on the board. Now, when reviewing System Information > BIOS Mode, it displays "Legacy." I've also observed that the shift + restart method to enter BIOS is no longer functional, as the "UEFI Firmware Settings" option isn't visible. Switching to the first BIOS switch brings me back to BIOS but displays "No bootable device found." Based on this, it seems the new Windows installation may have been linked to the legacy BIOS instead of the UEFI one. UEFI is considered the more advanced option. Would it be possible to separate Windows from the legacy BIOS and switch to UEFI, or would a fresh Windows installation be necessary with the first BIOS selected?
If a reinstall is available, it might be better for safety. I've noticed some problems with MBR2GPT, so I wouldn't rely on it completely.
Yes, reinstalling with the first BIOS option should load that configuration.
The BIOS needs to influence the OS installation, but only the Legacy/UEFI setting should be chosen. I’ve often changed between these BIOS versions on this board without any issues to the operating system.
The installation isn't happening in the BIOS settings. Although the operating system is connected, it doesn't get impacted by them. It seems you might need to adjust certain options in the first BIOS, which should allow booting. To be precise, this appears to be a BIOS configuration problem rather than an OS-related one.
Verify the correct sequence of your boot devices, and if missing, review "Hard Drive BBS Properties".
