Discussion on boosting performance of 5900X Question about overclocking techniques and results
Hello, your 5900X handles 4.55GHz at 1.2V but struggles to maintain stable 4.6GHz at 1.24V due to increased heat. This drop isn’t unusual for performance limits. It might indicate thermal constraints rather than core issues. Check if other cores are underperforming or if cooling is adequate.
I noticed a comparable setup in my profile, but I realized I actually achieved improved performance without manual overclocking—just by slightly increasing the voltage. It worked well on single-core tasks as well. What cooling or temperature management solutions are you employing?
MA620P in a H500M setup stays quiet at 1.2V and stays under 80 even when fully loaded. The default voltage seems higher than 1.4V, which made me worried about potential CPU damage. I was concerned it might affect performance, so I waited for more details. It appears the PBO targets strong cores and increases their clock speeds. What voltage are you applying to the PBO setting? I’d like to try adjusting it.
I experimented by lowering the clock speed to observe changes VCore 1.05 Single core R20 from 617 to 606 while All Core R20 increased from 8556 (nominal 4.36 to 4.35) to 8655 (nominal 4.44 to 4.46). It seems the reduced voltage likely improved temperature control and enhanced stability of the all-core boost.
