Hello, I'm testing an i7 4770k on an Asus Maximus VI Extreme with a GTX 1060 3GB running at PCIe 3.0 x16 native in the top lane. I'm curious about how adding a fourth PCIe 3.0 M.2 NVMe SSD (Gen4) to the same slot would affect my setup. According to the motherboard specs, any extra PCIe card would cap the first slot at x8, unless it's for SLI or similar setups. I've used a PCIe soundcard with an older 780TI before without issues, and noticed the GPU still ran at x16 even with both devices. My concern is whether using an x4 PCIe 3.0 SSD in any of the three lanes would restrict my GPU to x8, leaving some capacity unused. Also, would this have a noticeable impact on gameplay despite not being the top-tier component? Thanks for your help!

The 1080 works without any problems with x8, meaning the 1060 3GB version should also be okay.
