In terms of general use cases, Epyc offers greater memory flexibility and more PCI-E lanes when using a dual socket, while the Threadripper delivers higher clock speeds. For gaming, HPC, video editing, and crypto mining, Epyc may edge out due to its performance benefits. Future-proof applications could favor Epyc for its expandability, whereas high-end gaming or demanding workloads might lean toward the Threadripper.

It's tough to push a 5900x in those scenarios—better suited for servers handling VMs than gaming or typical use. No sense in it from a gameplay angle either. With an unlimited budget, most would go into a few 3090s. Yeah, SLI is overkill. But for rendering and encoding, 12k footage is definitely within reach!

We should compare the best cases in gaming and video editing to see which matters most. Higher memory capacity, faster clocks, or both play key roles depending on the task.

Clock rates are significantly higher than commonly thought. A Ryzen 1600 can handle much more RAM than required for most tasks, and using quad channels offers little benefit for these scenarios.
