Hello everyone, I just bought a Corsair 4000D Airflow and a B550 Gaming Carbon WiFi. I noticed the front IO connectors don’t match—your B550 uses a 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C, while the 4000D has either a 3.2 Gen 2 or a 3.1 Type-C. Could they still work together? I’m curious about speed differences and whether I’d have to return one of them. Thanks!
4000D features a 3.1 Type-C port (this was straightforward to locate). I found it on another site: 3.x cables and connectors tend to work across different versions, but since one is 3.1 and the other 3.2, you'll only achieve 3.1 performance from that one. Still, you'll figure it out eventually...
The case has a 3.0 USB A connector and a 3.1 USB C connector, same goes for the Motherboard. (Gen 1, Type C and Gen 1, Type A) So seems partpicker is a tad confused. There is a gen 2 C connector on the back that of that motherboard. In short: They perfectly match port wise
These setups are confusing me, but it seems he can link both USB front ports since the two-gen models work with the same board. The wiring diagram stays the same. In theory, it should run at full speed unless the cables are poor quality.
