Hey there, I'm curious about adding another NVMe slot to my ROG MAXIMUS XI HERO. The manual mentions that using a PCIe adapter in the third slot won't change the performance of the first slot, but it doesn't specify what happens with the third slot itself. I'm thinking about connecting a PCIe adapter there and wondering if it would boost the X16 GPU's speed. I'm also looking at this Amazon link for more details: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TY2...YH3S&psc=1

You won't likely perceive a GPU operating at 8x performance.

The third x16 is probably linked to the chipset, meaning it won't influence the GPU lanes that connect directly to the CPU.

You can utilize the third PCIE port at x4 performance, without altering the speed of your graphics card. The initial two PCIE connections pass through the CPU, leading to the "x16 if you use one slot, dual x8 for slots 1&2" scenario. The third connection travels via the chipset, ensuring it doesn't compete with the top slot. When using the x4 PCIE slot, it shares bandwidth with SATA ports 5 and 6; otherwise, you must configure it for x2 speeds.
