I checked the BIOS settings for any chipset or fan monitoring sensors, but they don’t appear to be present. It’s possible the noise was unrelated to a sensor.

On my ASRock X570 board, HWinfo64 displays the chipset temperature and fan speed, though I doubt the fan speed reading is precise.

It's still working but has been making noise for a week now. It seems like replacing the fan isn't feasible, so it looks like the fan is no longer functioning properly. The motherboard is only a few months old.

During our conversation, this motherboard was previously an RMA. The initial return they received had faulty RAM slots, but this one is different.

Bios is the newest release 4.0. The silent mode wasn't available, but a semi-passive setting was introduced which made a big difference. Back then it was focused on performance. With semi-passive, the south bridge stays at a maximum of 59°C. The fan runs around 828 rpm.
