People discuss the ASRock B650M PG RIPTIDE AM5 mainboard with its features and compatibility. Questions arise about its future upgradability with a better CPU like the 7600x, and comparisons are made between the GIGABYTE B650 AORUS ELITE AX and other boards such as those with x670 chipsets.

The 7700X works well with it, along with the upcoming AM5 Ryzen 7 chips. I wouldn’t be confident placing a Ryzen 9 in there unless you’re okay with extra cooling on the VRM. It really depends on how much more the Aorus Elite adds value. A board priced around $30 in the US seems reasonable, but an X670 would only make sense if you need huge expansion slots. Boards better than the B650 start appearing near $400-450, which doesn’t fit a $250 CPU budget.

Hey RONATHON, That's for the advice! The Gigabyte board is $60 more but there is this board which has, from what I understand, better vrms. It's$10 more. ASRock B650 PG LIGHTING AM5 ATX Mainboard , 4 slots DDR5, PCIE 4.0 x16, 3 M.2 slots, 2.5Gb Lan, 7.1 Nahimic Audio , Rear USB3.2 Gen2X2 Type_C , 14+2+1 Power Phase, AMD CrossFire. What's your thoughts on this one?

It performs better than the B650M PG Riptide. It doesn’t appear weak, and it seems capable of managing a Ryzen 9, although adding a fan on the VRM would be wise if you decide to go that route.
