You're checking if the Alienware R9 motherboard/case has a socket in that area. If it's missing, it could affect the USB connections, but since all pins appear present, it might just feel loose or unstable. The header should still work, though reliability depends on proper installation.
Looks like a USB3 front panel connector-- those plugs are super tight so I wouldn't be surprised if a careless past owner had pulled the socket out of the board accidentally. There's another header above it though, so unless you need 4+ front USB3 ports, you'll be fine just using that.
