I own a Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200MHz 8GBx2 memory package and enabled the XMP profile in BIOS. The RAM operated at 3200MHz with shortened timings. I experienced Windows BSODs and game crashes after about 30 to 60 minutes. After running a memtest86 diagnostic, numerous errors were detected. Once I turned off the XMP setting, I allowed the RAM to run at its standard frequency. This time the timings adjusted automatically to default values, and memtest86 reported no issues or crashes. Considering the frequency remained unchanged but timings shifted, I haven’t observed any performance impact. My questions are: 1. What caused the instability with XMP and reduced timings? 2. Even at 3200MHz, do timings still influence performance? Thanks. It could be unstable due to several factors. Timing plays a role, but frequency isn't the sole influence—like a 3200 cl16 unit matching a 3600 cl18 unit in latency. Ensure RAM is installed in slots 2 and 4. Adjust the SOC voltage to 1.1 and DRAM to 1.35, then test with XMP for stability.

It shouldn't occur, but there must be a problem somewhere—perhaps resetting the motherboard is necessary. Good luck with that. Also, check your RAM placement.

My RAM is installed in the DIMMB2 and DIMMA2 ports.
