You can upgrade smoothly by replacing the hardware and installing Windows 10 directly. No need to reinstall Windows 7 or go through multiple steps. Just ensure your Windows 7 installation is complete, then follow the official Windows 10 setup wizard, selecting a clean install option. This will let you start fresh with Windows 10 right after upgrading your system components.

Use the Media Tool for Windows 10 from Microsoft to generate an ISO file, then apply it after updating your hardware.

Not tried it yet but I think it could work. Just set up Windows 10 on your old motherboard and proceed.

When upgrading your motherboard, you might need a new Windows license based on your existing one. If you have a Retail license, you can usually move it to another board. An OEM license won’t transfer because it’s linked to the original hardware. After upgrading, Windows 10 licenses will also need activation on the new board, enabling a clean install without installing a license—activation happens automatically after setup.

Thank you for the answers. Also, I have an OEM copy of Windows 7. I wasn’t expecting this issue with the license transfer.

As noted, I have utilized original manufacturer keys again. They can be reset if needed.
