You’ll need a Windows 10 disk if you want to keep using Windows 10. You can reinstall Windows 8.1 and then upgrade to Windows 10 for free again.

You're unsure about this, but it seems you believe the same SSD works without needing a reinstall, provided the Windows version isn't original.

It seems adjusting your motherboard might affect the license compatibility across devices. You could contact Microsoft to request activation for the new machine. If you plan to install Windows 10 on the updated system, you can obtain it from Microsoft and enter the activation key here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software...windows10/

Checked the details, and it’s clear that updating mb won’t need a full Windows reinstall, especially for an OEM device. That’s good news—I remember my friend shared his boot drive with me last month to clean up viruses, and I got it in without any hassle.
