Hey everyone, I just upgraded my RAM from Ramaxel 4*8GB at 2400MHz CL18 to Kingston Fury Renegade 2*16GB at 3600MHz CL16. There are two XMP profiles available: one for DDR4-3600 CL16-20-20 @1.35V and another for DDR4-3000 CL15-17-17 @1.35V. I tried the first one but faced four BSODs in just two days. Switching to the second profile seems to fix the issues. I’m curious why the system is unstable at 3600MHz CL16. Should I manually adjust the overclock to 3200MHz and lower the clock speed, like 14-14-14? Or should I keep it on the second profile? Also, Kingston’s specs say profile 2 matches CL15-17-17, but my CPUZ data shows 16-17-17. My setup includes a 12-core AMD Ryzen 9 3900X with 45.5GHz, a 2 PCI-E x1 and 2 PCI-E x16 slot, plus M.2 slots, DDR4 DIMMs, audio, video, WiFi, and a TUF case. I’m using Windows 10 Pro x64 and have plenty of memory. Thanks for all the help!

I might test 3200 using the (15)16-17-17 settings. For odd number latency, turn on the odd memory divisor (or its name on your board).

Great question! Setting it to CL16 at 3600MHz can be unusual, but it’s common. Regarding stability, using the preset XMP profile helps maintain consistent performance without manual tuning.

The processor's memory controller operates at a maximum of 3200MHz. Going beyond that risks instability. The jump from 3200 to 3600 is only slight for gaming and everyday tasks. It’s not a major issue if you hit around 3466MHz or similar. Manufacturers likely increase latency for better compatibility, which makes sense.
