A motherboard's thermal management reflects its design and build quality, but it doesn't fully represent its overall performance or reliability.

Some motherboards with budget VRMs tend to overheat more than those with higher-quality ones. For instance, an A320 board running a 3950X might cause VRMs to overheat and throttle the CPU, whereas a B550 or X570 board would run cooler and let the CPU perform optimally. However, overall performance depends not just on temperature, VRM health, or chipset quality.

Beyond VRM and the chipset, a solid board is defined by reliability, build quality, and performance consistency. Focus on user feedback and real-world testing for a clearer picture beyond technical specs.

The main focus is on the official motherboard VRM tier list for AMD. It includes a Google spreadsheet with detailed data about each motherboard, such as MOSFET and Powerstage Combo options, CPU voltage controllers, and more. I recommend using just the tier list, as the spreadsheet offers limited value unless you understand how to read it. Link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1...edit#gid=0
