I went through the steps to file a warranty claim with Intel for my CPU, and they’ve sent me a new i9-14900k. I hope this will fix the stability problems and let my processor run at its full speed. I’m curious about the two power settings Intel recommends—307 Amps for Performance mode and 400 Amps for Extreme mode. I want to maximize performance but avoid the instability issues I’ve faced before. Is it safe to let my CPU draw 400 Amps? I’ve updated my BIOS and set everything to Intel defaults, with PL1 and PL2 at 253W as per their guidelines. Thanks for your assistance! I know everyone is probably exhausted from all the 14900k discussions lol.
You've likely updated the BIOS with new microcode that maintains CPU performance. Cooling a system generating over 400W remains a challenge, and it's unclear why extra performance would be necessary for your specific needs.
According to what I've learned, the decline wasn't due to excessive current but rather from elevated clock speeds and high voltage levels (possibly the voltage stemming from the current). Setting a maximum clock frequency of 5.6GHz seemed reasonable, though it's unclear if limiting voltage was necessary.
