Steam supports moving games between storage options without damaging files. You can keep your games on the SSD for quick access and switch them to the HD when needed, ensuring smooth performance and data integrity.

You can configure two distinct folders. Navigate to settings>downloads and create a new folder on your SSD if needed.

I moved my CS Go folder onto the SSD earlier today. It was straightforward, but I had to inform Steam about the location and initiate the download process. The game located itself, verified the files, and confirmed installation.

I handle this regularly using three 120GB SSDs and a 1TB HDD. Just assign one SteamLibrary per storage type (one on each drive) and then copy everything over. I haven’t experienced any file corruption. All your saves remain secure in the Documents folder, either under My Games or within the game directory itself.

Generally, you can relocate the game folder to another drive and inform Steam of the new location. It may need to re-download some files, but it should function. A better option is using a tool such as SteamTool Library Manager.

Steam recently supports using several drives at once. I wasn't aware of this feature. How do game files actually move across the drives?

Steam will... detect the game instantly and add it to your list without any prompts.

Check your message. Or just transfer the folder to the secondary drive and Steam will reinstall it.
