Discussing podcast production challenges and solutions.
Hello everyone, I'm not sure if this is the correct forum, but I need to share my thoughts since I don't find any other place with experts on troubleshooting podcast setups that connect hardware and software. I just bought five microphones (AT2020 models) and plan to get a Focusrite 18i20 interface, which supports up to eight channels. We expect only six mics at once, rarely more than that. It's well-reviewed, and I've had positive experiences with similar interfaces before. My questions are:
1. Which audio software would work best for recording all six mics individually? I want to capture each one separately without streaming. I noticed OBS can handle up to six mics, but the instructions seem unclear. Does this mean I can assign each mic its own channel for pre and post-production editing? If so, what's the sound quality like with OBS? I'm new to this and used FL Studio before—it often crashed during recording. Would Adobe Audition be a better alternative?
2. How can I add a stream deck so listeners can hear the audio while I play clips? Is this straightforward in OBS? If not, are there other programs that work well together? I want to mimic WAN's style—pre-recorded content with features like a bleep button for swearing and an intro track. Can Adobe Audition support a stream deck in the same way as OBS?
Thanks in advance for your advice. I'm excited about starting this casual-style podcast!
