I've been using pfSense for about a month now, just experimenting. One day I accidentally dropped the power cord and got stuck on my chair. While trying to unplug it, I ripped it out. When I tried to boot it again, it was corrupted. I attempted a system repair but that didn't work either, so I reinstalled it. It doesn't seem to have any settings installed. Are IPFire or other firewall systems prone to this issue after a power loss? I'm not in an area where this is common, but I just want to be safe. If it happens again, I might need a UPS.

It seems you were handling a crucial system task, like powering off your router. Although it stops, it undergoes a shutdown procedure.

It appears the system is powering down intentionally, not due to an accident.

Turning the power switch on a PSU is equivalent to removing the device from the outlet

I damaged my latest setup by abruptly shutting it down during repairs. Using ZFS as the filesystem should assist in this situation. It also offers advantages for SSDs, such as TRIM support, which the previous filesystem required manual configuration.
