Yesterday I had a chat about purchasing a used computer. Someone assured me everything was fine except for needing a new hard drive. I cleaned it thoroughly at home because it was extremely dusty. After finishing, I tested it inside and it wouldn’t power on. I ran through various checks until I realized the issue was with the power supply. Do you think I could have damaged the power supply by using an air compressor?

It wasn't due to an air compressor. The issue stems from a failing hard drive. You should have confirmed its functionality prior to purchase or upon arrival.

It’s possible a cable could have been dislodged, but such an event isn’t highly probable because most power cables have protective clips.

Verify the basic connections first. Ensure the power source is active, the outlet provides electricity, and the front panel switches are securely connected. If these steps aren’t working, replace the RAM and GPU. Have you run a test before this point? Look for any indicators of activity, such as fans attempting to rotate.

There was a faint sign of life the fans whirred briefly before everything reset. I rechecked everything to be sure there was no chance of failure. No evidence should have prompted concern, but I didn’t test it first—I wish I had. Now I really need a new hard drive since it lacked one. I also didn’t clean it beforehand, which would have helped.

It performs that action consistently each time you attempt to power it on.

It seems like you're interpreting this as a concern about a motherboard problem.
