Discussing overclocking in SLI AMD CrossFire X setups?
So I'm a bit puzzled about this. If I have two graphics cards in a SLI or CrossFire setup and want to overclock the GPU, will the overclock only affect one card at a time or do I need to overclock each one individually? Or should I think of it as if overclocking one GPU automatically upgrades the other? Thanks ahead of time!
I don't remember crossfire well anymore, but I used to give up on AMD ten years ago. For Sli, whatever you choose for the top card, the bottom one will align in SLI. The same applies to stock cards—if you have a Super Clocked card on top, the bottom card must match its speed or you won't be able to set SLI. This can create issues since not every card can overclock at the same rate. It's better to understand each card's capabilities individually and then set the overclock to the maximum of the slower ones.
