Discussing multiple PTZ stream configurations and networking concerns.
Hello, my name is Tyler. I'm trying to configure a two-camera feed for a business setup where he can switch between cameras as needed while viewing different areas of the room. Right now, each camera connects directly to the switch, and the laptop gets its signal via a Cat5 cable. Everything functions smoothly with less than 1ms latency. When switching media feeds—such as importing camera views into OBS through RTP—I notice a noticeable delay of about two seconds before the feed appears. The cameras themselves remain stable; they don’t drop, just lag slightly. I’m considering whether running an RS232 connection between the cables might help. There’s also a camera control dock with a joystick that was previously connected but left unplugged. If SR232 cables are installed, could that resolve the issue? The distance between cameras and the media room is roughly 30 feet each way. Would chaining two cameras into a controller and then linking to the CAT5 cable instead solve the delay problem? Or are there specific OBS or network adjustments I should make? Any advice or resources would be really helpful. Thanks.
