I’ve begun observing that with more than seven devices online, performance declines noticeably and connections drop frequently. I’m wondering whether the problem lies with my internet service provider or if upgrading my router would help.

Confirm if it's for Wi-Fi only or wired connection. Also, specify the router, modem, and access point you're employing. Ensure all devices are current with the latest software updates.

I used it as a router and modem because it's the only device I have for internet connections. Honestly, I’m not sure what the difference is between a router, modem, or access point. I did update the firmware on the internet box about a month ago, and everything related to computers is now current.

Likely the issue lies with your setup. I recommend using a separate router and modem, checking your ISP's suggested model, and opting for a mid-range router.

You're right about the source of the problem. This issue seems connected to the internet service provider you're using. If you'd like alternatives, let me know!

What internet service provider are you using? Which connection is being used to deliver the service to your home? Typically, you can purchase a dedicated modem yourself.

Currently in Greece, ISP is Wind. It seems to be DSL since it includes the phone line. If needed, I’m on a 50mbps plan, which decreases to about 5-10 Mbps during peak times according to speedtest.net.

Are you connecting via Wi-Fi? It seems like that might be the issue. Check if using a wired connection improves the signal. You can also set up your own Wi-Fi access point if needed.

The term clearly describes it, yet I lack the insight to fully grasp its meaning.

access point is what takes the wired and makes it wireless. If its an issue on wired, then you probably need a new router and modem. Id call up your isp to see what modems you can use with your service.
