My GPU operates at PCIe x8 4.0 instead of the expected PCIe x16 4.0 (Check the BIOS screenshots and GPU-Z). I switched from GT 1030 to RX 6600 and noticed it runs at a lower speed than anticipated. While using GT 1030, I wasn’t surprised by this performance; after getting the RX 6600, it became clear. I verified the BIOS and GPU details, tried different games to test switching, but nothing changed. My M.2 slot has the NVME SSD for Windows booting, with a second slot empty, and two SATA HDDs connected. No other devices are present in any PCIe lane except the GPU. Here are my system specs: Motherboard – ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING II; CPU – AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT; GPU – Asus Dual Radeon RX 6600 8GB GDDR6; RAM – Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3200MHZ C16. Power supply is a Cooler Master MWE 550 V2 230V SMPS, 550W, 80 Plus Bronze. I also have a Western Digital Blue SN550 500GB M.2 NVMe SSD for storage. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

The rx6600 is an x8 card, which means the speed is anticipated. The x8 versus x16 doesn't significantly affect performance in this case.

Thanks a lot for the clarification! I was really confused, but if the 6600 is an X8 card, does that mean my motherboard’s PCIe speed will also be X8 due to the GPU? Appreciate the help again!

PCIe operates efficiently at the maximum bandwidth offered by both components, resulting in the minimum shared generation and the smallest shared link speed.
