Discussing ESXi VM shrinkage involves understanding how to reduce its size efficiently.
I've set up an ESXi lab with a system in my setup, and I mistakenly allocated too much space on some virtual machines. Veeam is installed on a Windows LTSC VM as a backup plan, but I'm unsure how to proceed. The Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS VM runs under ESXi 6.5 U2 and has been provisioned heavily. I have a Veeam backup of about 5 GB, but the VM is using 20 GB—plenty of space for now. I'm not sure where to start, especially since a 10 GB allocation would be sufficient and 40 GB is significant. Adding another SSD for a datastore would cost around $50, which isn't too bad. Homelabs are meant for learning, so I'm trying to figure out the best way to optimize this. Any advice would be appreciated! TDLR.
