Discussing dual monitor tasks
Can you adjust the settings so that clicking on your second monitor during a game doesn't cause it to minimize?
Besides using windowed mode for your game, or having multiple tabs open, I’m not aware of any other methods unless a specific application offers that functionality.
Play the game in borderless mode. This feature is rare—most games don’t offer it. Some titles like LoL and GTA V have it, though performance can vary. There’s also an app that provides this option, but I’m not sure what it is.
There are downloadable options available that allow you to secure your mouse to the active screen. I don’t remember the exact name of the one you used, but it seems to be something like "Dual Monitor Tools - swap screen." It offers features such as hotkeying for mouse lock on the current display.
Certain games handle this differently, and some do better than others. If you're serious about using that feature often, windowed borderless is the top choice. However, it may affect performance. I've seen Civ V works well even when you switch to other windows while it's in fullscreen, and Space Engineers always minimizes itself, even in windowed mode.
