Discussing component upgrades
I’m not planning any other upgrades right now. I just need a new processor to improve my PC’s performance.
If you haven't refreshed the BIOS in two years, you might need to. Apart from that, the 2600 offers a solid upgrade, provided you already have a dedicated GPU, because the 2600 lacks one.
I received the images of your bios. That should clarify things.
I would upgrade it to version 7A36v2H for safety. Don't forget to update your chipset driver as well. https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/...iver&Win10 64
I attempted to update previously, but in the M-Flash it didn't display the files (the image remains unchanged as before).
You should test the executable to see if it updates your chipset driver, but since your Ryzen 5 2600 is coming soon, it might be better to wait until the new chipset is installed.
Apologies for the delay, I was handling some tasks. Running that .exe should guide you through the setup wizard.
Your USB flash drive needs to be formatted using FAT32. When you download a BIOS from the MSI website, it arrives as a .zip file. Extract the files and place them on the USB drive. Alternatively, follow MSI's M-FLASH guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRyFMf0D9Lc. Choose the BIOS version mentioned by jctappel67. Make sure to update your chipset drivers. In the end, you should have a refreshed BIOS, a new CPU, and updated chipset drivers.
