I just purchased an AMD Radeon R5 240 from eBay at a very low price to fit into my single-slot low-profile streaming PC. It functions perfectly out of the box, but I’m curious if it’s possible to open the BIOS and rename the card from the Dell OEM model to an aftermarket variant so that overclocking via AMD Overdrive becomes available. Specifically, for the 384 shader Oland xt chip? The specifications are as follows (from GPUZ 1.9): AMD Radeon™ R5 240, Oland, 28nm, 77mm².

It's really honest to say the benefits of overclocking aren't significant, the performance gain would be minimal at best and could even be harmful in some cases.
If you still want to try, I recommend using CCC; AMD Overdrive is straightforward, but keep an eye on temperatures when using the software.
You can find a clear explanation of how it works here: http://www.amd.com/en-us/innovations/sof...over-drive

I've done a lot of overclocking using CCC, but it's not available for OEM cards.
I know the benefit of OC isn't huge, just to experiment sometimes, and since the card was so cheap, I wouldn't mind turning it into a brick if needed.
