Today I faced some connection problems and suspect it might be malware. I restored the system from a backup made a week ago and downloaded malicious files. The quick scan came up clean, but I’m planning to keep it running for about a week while the trial period lasts. I’m wondering if this could interfere with Symantec Endpoint Protection, especially since it claims anti-malware and anti-spyware features. Thanks in advance for your help.

Strictly speaking, malware bytes isn't an antivirus.
