I recently acquired the Constellation Aquila and believe it should come with the P52 Merlin. Interesting question—I’m exploring the ship while noticing that the docked Merlin’s thruster assembly doesn’t match the rest of the body, except for the overall structure. What kind of vessel is this? (Apologies, I don’t have a picture to clarify my description.) *Found an updated image. The first photo matches what you described, and the second is the one I own separately.*

On the ship page, it wasn't mentioned that it came with a Merlin, but rather a kind of rover. That doesn't sound like a typical rover to me, but who knows?

The Aquila includes a Merlin, a rover, upgraded fuel tanks, and an additional component. The standard Constellation model does not come with the Merlin.

Possibly. At first I thought it was a previous version of the Merlin but I also bought a Merlin just before buying the Constellation so the final release model is what I have. I figured maybe the devs haven't updated the model on the constellation? Unless it is as you mentioned a different model and that would be great as it has more thruster's. B)

The first image shows the P-72 Archimedes, possibly an outdated version of the P-52, while the second depicts the modern P-52 Merlin. Note: After checking online, it seems to be just the original P-52 model.

It's an issue introduced with the 1.3 update. For some oddity, the original Connie model (still connected to Merlin) appears in the game. My Andromeda also has this problem.

The currently operational p-52 appears significantly altered from the original design we see attached to the constellation's underside. The mounting mechanism is likely to differ on the updated constellations once installed. The previous Merlin model featured a notably vintage cockpit interior.
