Checked prices on AliExpress. The e3-1280 3.5GHz 3.9GHz-Turbo matches the e3-1230v2 but offers 3.3GHz and 3.7GHz-Turbo versions. I can support 95W TDP, which fits my i5-2400 (95W TDP) as well, staying under 55°C at full load. Still puzzled about the value of the v2 model.

The price is double that of the E3-1280 V1. For me, raw speed isn't the main concern. I'm looking for a budget upgrade. When comparing the E3-1280 and E3-1280 V2, I think I should go with the E3-1280 since it fits my needs—1333MHz RAM and it's more affordable. What do you think?

Hold on for the upcoming CPU release, similar to Zen 3, which should bring down prices for older models. In the long run, I recommend moving to a DDR4 setup.
