Discussing a CPU upgrade
I have a suggestion from someone who thinks I can upgrade my i5-2400 to a Xeon model with the same 32nm and 1155 socket support. I’m considering two chips: e3-1270 and e3-1280. The price on AliExpress is roughly $2–3 USD apart, and most people seem to prefer the e3-1270 over the e3-1280. I already have a good tower cooler with four fans. I only see the TDP and a 100MHz difference between the two. Can you clarify which one is better? Personally, I’m leaning toward the e3-1280.
It's not clear from your question what you're asking about. Could you clarify whether you're referring to a specific board model or if you want to know if a particular CPU is included in the supported list?
You're welcome to move up to Xeon 12xx v1 or v2. The 1280v2 option is very affordable and performs comparably to the 3770.
v2 doesn't work with your motherboard because it uses different manufacturing processes—32nm and 22nm.
Performance is improved. It's not just about the clock speeds. The architecture also plays a role—please let me know if you're right.
