Today I was VERY excited when I saw the little Windows 10 icon on my tool bar. I clicked on it and accepted the free offer! I am SO PSYCHED for this! I've been playing with the tech preview and I love what I've seen so far! Whose excited? Please share thoughts and feelings about the free upgrade? Whose ready? This year is gonna be awesome! EDIT: Hoping to make this thread an official pinned guide on Windows 10! Stay tuned folks! First guide: To reserve your copy look for the little white Windows icon. See first image on where to look http://prntscr.com/7caw43 Second image shows what the icon looks like http://prntscr.com/7cawlf Once you have clicked the icon this box will appear. http://prntscr.com/7cawxa (Please note that I have already reserved my copy. Also see the fine print. http://prntscr.com/7cax8o ) Once you've accepted, or in some cases entered your email, you have successfully reserved your Windows 10 free download! I received it the day before I made the update, hoping July would arrive soon.

I'm excited about July. Microsoft has made significant progress with this new operating system. The interface feels like a balanced mix of previous versions—still user-friendly but with more features.

Just in case you miss this, you’ll still be able to access it once it’s released.

I was also thrilled. I planned to upgrade since I enjoyed what I saw, but I prefer my devices and have full control over updates, so I declined. (Even though I only have Win7Pro, haha) I truly hope they address desktop tools and reconsider forcing home users to install updates without consent (and maybe there aren’t any other hidden downsides). I really wanted to stick with Windows 10. They will, but not for free. If you don’t understand while it’s free, you’ll end up paying over $100 later.

It's been praised by numerous users, and it seems to be the top choice for Microsoft. Have you made sure all updates are installed?

Right now I'm facing some issues and unsure if I'll recover the PC by July 29th. Will I still be able to get it after its release? (I own an official Windows 7 copy.)

The notification arrived on your Win8 system while your dad’s older Win7 version was still loading it. This could be due to differences in software updates or compatibility issues between the two operating systems.

It's been a year since the release, and the expiration date was July 29, 2016. You're right about that.
