Discuss the internet speed problems with Linksys Dual WAN LRT224.
You're experiencing a significant drop in internet speed when using the Linksys router with your dual WAN configuration. It sounds like the issue might be related to how the Linksys router handles the connection settings or firmware. Have you checked for any recent updates or changes to the router's configuration? Also, ensure that your modem is properly connected and powered on. If the problem persists, consider testing with a different router or checking for any interference in your network setup.
What type of modem are you using? Verify it’s set to Bridge mode if it’s a modem/router combo, as this helps your Linksys manage routing properly. Avoid a router-behind-router configuration since it can cause performance issues. Also, confirm the Linksys router displays the WAN interface as connected at 1000, not 100—check the status page for confirmation.
I think it displayed a connection strength of 1000, not 100. I'll verify that. The modem functions as a standalone device, not a router—it's a Motorola MB8600. The Netgear router handles DHCP and port forwarding, connecting to the Linksys router which is currently experiencing problems. That’s a separate matter I’m addressing now.
We also switched the Linksys router to DHCP Relay, but it didn’t work. If we switch to a Netgear router as the AP, then resetting it to factory settings would be necessary. This would block me from accessing the router’s configuration page, and I also have port forwarding enabled, which might not function in AP mode.
But even if port forwarding is handled, it still needs configuration on the Linksys router. Also, certain applications don’t like NAT by default, making double NAT a hassle. Bypassing double NAT via port forwarding is quite complicated.
