I plan to buy a new motherboard and CPU, and I’ll be switching to Windows 8 since I have Windows 7 OEM. I’m curious if my existing SSD and 1TB HDD will still work with the new setup. Also, I wasn’t sure where to share this information.

When moving from 7 to 8 and swapping the motherboard and CPU, it's best to perform a full reset to prevent issues.

You may use older storage devices. However, the main drive (assuming an SSD) needs to be formatted first, which will erase all data on it. The secondary drive doesn’t require formatting—just delete unnecessary files and folders. It’s a good idea to do this anyway, but make sure to back up everything important beforehand. You’ll still need to install all software again. If your Windows 7 was bought separately as an OEM product, you can keep using it. And upgrade to Windows 10 once it becomes available.
